About Dr. Blankenship

On a personal note…

Beyond the professional details above, I’d also like to share a little about who I am personally. I’m a native Floridian and I initially moved to Tallahassee for grad school. Afterward, I had the opportunity to live in beautiful Northern California for a few years, then in St. Pete, before eventually returning home to Tallahassee.

I love traveling and immersing myself in different cultures. I enjoy diving into anything that channels my creative side because it really fills my cup. Lately, I have been decorating elaborate sugar cookies and doing home renovations. I love reading and listening to audio books and podcasts. My favorite books are psychological thrillers and historical fiction. I enjoy our local restaurants and breweries in Tallahassee, and I'm often at the various playgrounds with my kiddo. I love animals and will gladly pull over to help a stray dog or move a turtle from the middle of the road. I really enjoy work and truly love what I do. Giving back and staying involved in the community are also important to me, as is advocating for the dignity and rights of all people. When I’m not working, you can often find me reading, biking, playing mahjong with friends or doing puzzles with my son, at the beach, or hanging out with my family and friends. Above all, I value my roles as a daughter, wife, friend, and mother.

I believe good psychological care requires both expertise and humanity. While my education and training are important, my understanding of healing is not only professional. Like many people, I have faced many ups and downs in life, and have spent time doing my own work in therapy. I also have a medically complex child and have played the role of the patient’s parent with more doctors and therapists than I can count. Because of my personal experiences, I know firsthand that seeking support can be uncomfortable and it requires a great deal of vulnerability. I also know how meaningful it can be to feel understood and supported, and to realize that you’re not alone. That perspective influences the way I approach every person who walks through my door, which is why I want everyone to feel at home while at Parker House.
